The Central African Republic is a country in central Africa.

The majority of the people live in the western and southern parts of the country.

34% of the population is Baya, 27% is Banda, 21% is Mandjia and 10% is Sara.

French is the official language. Banda, Gbaya and Sango are also spoken.

60% of the people practice traditional religions, 35% are Christian and 5% are Muslim.

Subsistence farming occupies most of the workforce.

Diamonds make up about half of export earnings.

Timber, tobacco, coffee and cotton are also exported.

The Central African Republic has a presidential system of government.

The official currency is the CFA franc, which consists of 100 centimes.
