The Union of the Comoros is an island country located off of the coast of East Africa in the Indian Ocean. Comoros is made up of three volcanic islands and some coral atolls.
Ngazidja, also known as Grand Comore is the largest of the three volcanic islands.
Nzwani, or Anjouan is the next largest.
Mwali, also called Mohéli, is the smallest of the three.
Overall, the Comoros has an area of 719 square miles (1,862 square kilometers).
It is a mountainous country. The soil is not very fertile.
