Malawi is a narrow, landlocked country in southern Africa.

It has an area of 45,747 square miles (118,484 square kilometers).

Important exports are sugar, tea and tobacco.

Malawi has a presidential system of government and belongs to the Commonwealth of Nations.

The official currency is the kwacha, which equals 100 tambala.
