The Republic of Rwanda is a country in east-central Africa.

With a population of 9,998,00 in an area of only 10,169 square miles (26,838 square kilometers), Rwanda is Africa's most densely populated country.

In the 1990s, conflict between the Tutsi and Hutu peoples, which included the murder of more than half a million Tutsis in acts of genocide, resulted in the devastation of the country.

Rwanda is slowly recovering from this conflict.
