It is a fast-flowing river that cuts a wide, deep channel along the border.

Victoria Fall lies between Zambia and Zimbabwe, where the Zambezi River has cut an enormous gorge. When lava in the region cooled and contracted, large joints were formed in the basalt. This allowed the river to create such a huge gorge.

Primary exports are copper and cobalt.

Four fifths of the workforce is involved in agriculture, mostly in subsistence agriculture.

Zambia belongs to the Commonwealth of Nations.

It has a presidential system of government.

The Zambian kwacha, which equals 100 ngwee, is the official currency.
