Sint Eustatius, sometimes known as Statia, an island in the Caribbean Sea, in the Leeward Islands, is a public body of the Netherlands.

It is a tiny island, with an area of only11.8 square miles (30.6 square kilometers).

Sint Eustatius was part of the Netherlands Antilles until the Netherlands Antilles were dissolved in 2010.

The capital of Sint Eustatius is Oranjestad.

3,100 people live on Sint Eustatius.

Dutch is the official language, but people on Sint Eustatius also speak English and Spanish.

The Quill, a dormant volcano, is located in the southern part of Sint Eustatius. It's crater is covered in rainforest. The Quill has been designated a national park.

A series of hills, all that remain of another volcano, lie in the north of the island.

Diving is very popular. There are coral reefs along the coast.

Divers can explore a site that is made up of shipwrecks.

Honem Dalim on Sint Eustatius was one of the oldest Jewish synagogues in the Americas. It was built in the late 1730s. Although it is now a ruin, it is still visited by tourists.

A carnival and summer festival takes place from the end of July to the beginning of August.

Sint Eustatius is a free port, so visitors do not pay customs duties.
