The United States Virgin Islands is a United States Unincorporated Territory in the Caribbean Sea. It is located at the western end of the Virgin Islands Group. The British Virgin Islands are at the eastern end.

The climate is subtropical.

The most important islands are St. Thomas, St.  John and St. Croix.

Charlotte Amalie, on Saint Thomas Island, is the capital of the US Virgin Islands.

111,000 people live on the United States Virgin Islands.

76% are black, 13% are white, 1% are Asian and 4% are mixed race.

English is the official language. Spanish, French, Spanish Creole and French Creole are also spoken.

59% of the people are Protestant and 34% are Roman Catholic.

Tourism forms the basis of the economy

There is a large oil refinery on the island of St. Croix.

Some income comes from manufacturing.

The official currency of the US Virgin Islands is the United States dollar.
